A man convicted of murdering his girlfriend four years ago in Timberlea, and then burning her body, has been granted a new trial by the Court of Appeal.
The justices ruled the Crown did not prove that Paul Trevor Calnen intended to murder Reita Louise Jordan in their Timberlea home in 2013.
Calnen denied he killed Jordan, telling police they had been fighting the day she died. He said she took a swing at him, missed and fell down the basement stairs. He remains in prison for now.
