During the first world war, 5 young men from Joggins lost their lives at Vimy Ridge.
Recently, Joggins recognized that sacrifice 100 years ago with the planting of a Vimy Oak tree near the cenotaph.
The men who were honoured were Frederick Belliveau, James Como; Frank Forrest, George Livingston; and James Lloyd.
The tree is a descendant of an oak at Vimy Ridge, whose acorns were gathered in the days after the battle by soldier Leslie Miller.
