The province is urging people not to approach fawns or moose calves, even if they appear to be abandoned.
This is the peak calving and fawning season in the province…and the Natural Resouces Department says hikers, campers fishers and other outdoor enthusiats should stay away from newborn animals because those taken away from their mothers usually die. It also says the prevalence of diseases in deer and moose has increased and handling fawns increases the risk of those diseases being spread.
