Medical Examiner leaves open possible inquiry into triple murder-suicide

The medical examiner now says he will consider family members’ views before deciding whether to order a public inquiry into the death of Lionel Desmond who shot his wife, daughter and mother and then himself in Upper Big Tracadie.

Dr. Matthew Bowes said if he concludes a hospital review of Desmond’s treatment was either incomplete or unlikely to bring about changes, he may call for a judicial inquiry. Earlier this week, the Justice Department said Bowes had ruled out a Fatalities Inquiry.
