A Marine Protected area has been declared for a large swath of ocean east of Cape Breton to protect the endangered leatherback turtle.
Federal Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc says the area is about three-quarters the size of Prince Edward Island. Most human activities, such as commercial fishing, will be prohibited in the St. Anns Bank Marine Protected Area.
