Residents continue to express concern with Common Council’s apparent plans to sell off part of Rockwood Park for development.
The city’s growth committee began a review this week of what it would take to sell off almost 12 acres in the northwest part of Rockwood along Sandy Point Road. The committee is looking at it as a way to grow the tax base. But Mayor Don Darling says there’s no “no pre-determined outcome.”
Joan Pearce, of the Friends of Rockwood Park, told the Telegraph-Journal revisiting the issue is a huge mistake…going over the same things they did in 2010 and 2011. She says the land inquesation was donated as parkland and there are concerns about the environmenta effects of increased development on the area.
