They made it through the winter and now the Cherry Brook Zoo is looking forward to the summer season.
Cherry Brook was facing possible closure after the city cut its grant from $50,000 to $10,000, according to CBC. Then there was the scandal with the firing of the zoo’s founder and director last year over expense claims.
However, the zoo has seen an increase in donations coming in…thanks in large part to the group 100 Women Who Care who donated over $17,000. Other organizations have also stepped up and provide more donations so that they have almost made up the amount the city cut.
