No inquiry into triple murder-suicide

The medical examiner has ruled out conducting a fatality inquiry into a triple murder-suicide in January in Upper Tracadaie.

33 year old Lionel Desmond, a veteran of the Afghan war who suffered from P-T-S-D, killed his mother, his wife and their 10 year old daughter before killing himself in the family’s home. The deaths prompted a debate over soldiers with P-T-S-D and how to prevent domestic violence. But despite relatives’ calls for an inquiry, the Justice Department says medical examiner Dr. Matt Bowes has decided not to investigate under the province’s Fatality Investigations Act.
