Residents in Glace Bay were startled on Friday after a large chunk of coastal cliff collapsed into the water below. While the coastal erosion around Glace Bay is nothing new, local residents tell CTV this is the largest chunk of land they can ever recall falling into the ocean. It’s thought that erosion along the shore line mixed with heavy rains caused the large chunk of land at the top of the cliff to collapse. The Cape Breton Municipality says they will be monitoring the area to ensure the situation doesn’t become more dangerous and unstable.
