Election – Promises

The NDP has released its election platform.  A Gary Burrill government would have a $256 million deficit in the first year, and a total of $966 million over four.  The party says investing in healthcare, education and social services will boost the economy and roughly maintain the current debt-to-GDP ratio.

A PC government would move zone management to regional hospitals, empowering them to handle it.  Leader Jamie Baillie says the creation of one provincial health board has just created more bureaucracy, and decisions need to be made locally to fit each area’s unique needs.

The Liberals would invest $17.4 million in aquaculture and agriculture.  The Building Tomorrow Fund would spend $9 million over three years for the agriculture and seafood industry.  $8.4 million would be spent for the Aquaculture Development Program over three years.
