Premier Stephen McNeil wants to invest $8.5 million more in the province’s wine industry in hopes almost 500 jobs will be creasted over three years. The wine sector supports 575 jobs now and McNeil says the workforce could exceed 1,000.

Conservative leader Jamie Baillie said his Tories would invest $13.5 million to bring more doctors to under-serviced areas, double the tuition relief program to keep new family doctors in Nova Scotia and recognize the credentials for Canadians who study medicine abroad.

NDP leader Gary Burrill says his New Democrats would invest millions of dollars to expand the midwife program, pointing out there are only 10 currebntly practising in Nova Scotia.
