Catholics in the Saint John Diocese are anxiously waiting to see if their church will stay or go.
The diocese conducted a survey of its churches last week to see how many people were left in congregations, how many were attending services.
Most of the churches were built when services and collection plates were routinely full but that just isn’t true anymore. Bishop Robert Harris says the diocese just can’t afford the the status quo and keep expensive churches open if there aren’t enough parishioners in the pews.
