Clean up beach contamination before allowing more development

The Gallant Government is being pressured to stop anymore development between Shediac Bay and Murray Beach until water quality problems are solved.

The Times and Transcript reports Tim Borlase, president the Red Dot Association of Shediac Bay, has sent a letter to the province co-signed by other groups demanding an immediate moratorium on any development within 500 metres of the water.  Borlase hopes that by acting as a collective the groups hope the government will realize this is the only answer.

Marc Andre Chiasson in the Department of Environment and Local Government, said they understand the residents’ concerns and the government is committed to identify, address and mitigate the contamination at Parlee Beach.
