Sentencing delayed for teacher

Sentencing of a former teacher from Hubley who admitted to inappropriate contact with a student has been delayed until the fall.

Sarah Allt Harnish was a teacher at Five Bridges Junior High when she was charged with invitation to sexual touching in February of last year. She was due to be sentenced yesterday but her lawyer Joel Pink wanted a delay until the court of appeal decides on the Crown’s appeal of a house arrest sentence involving a teacher in the Pictou area. Pink said that appeal by the Crown on minimum sentences may guide the judge in Allt’s case.
