The Moncton Hospital hopes to cut down on E-R visits

The Moncton Hospital is hoping to ease congestion in its emergency department with a new online campaign, according to CBC.

The hospital has launched a website to help patients figure out where they should go to receive health care in a timely fashion. It’s called the Why Wait campaign and involves doctors, nurse practitioners, local pharmacists, 811 and after-hours clinics.

Horizon Health figures a quarter of people who go to the E-R don’t have an emergency.  Their symptoms are not urgent and they could receive treatment sooner somewhere else.  It’s hoping the new website  sowhywait.ca  will give them the information they need on what kind of service would be best for their particular problem.
