afety advocates are praising a move by Regional Council to lower the speed limit on residential streets.
It doesn’t have the power to do it, so council will ask the provincial government to lower the speed limit to 40kph from the present 50kph. The city would still be able to post higher speed limits on some streets like main thoroughfares.
