The Tory MLA for Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin Jake Stewart is accusing Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser of improperly handling a 2015 petition against the proposed 240 bed P3 nursing home in Miramichi, but those claims are being disputed by Fraser; according to The Leader.
Fraser contends that he went through the proper channels after being handed a petition with signatures of thousands of people who were opposed to that plan.
The fact that the petition wasn’t presented in the legislative assembly still upsets Stewart.
He added that 11,000 people were dead against the building of a public-private partnership nursing home.
Three different companies are being considered under the Miramichi RFP, one of them is the Halifax-based Shannex corporation; which already operates three other P3 nursing homes elsewhere in the province.
