Mayor Don Darling unveiled some details of the new growth strategy yesterday after Common Council approved it Monday.
Darling outlined what he called a roadmap to boosting the population which is now priority number one, according to CTV. He said population growth is not optional anymore, or tax based growth or jobs growth. The mayor said they want to get tenants into some of the valuable but vacant buildings in the city.
Auctioneer Tim Isaac has been operating here for almost half a century and says the workforce is the key. Isaac said you have to have jobs…and not just any jobs, good ones. He said some have been unemployed for two or three generations and it’ll take a long time to reverse the trend.
