Maud Lewis painting found in thrift shop donation bin

A painting by famous Nova Scotia folk artist Maud Lewis was found in a thrift shop bin in Ontario and will now be auctioned off to raise money for the thrift centre near Kitchener.

The painting entitled “Portrait of Eddie Barnes and Ed Murphy, Lobster Fishermen, Bay View, N-S” has been authenticated as by the famous folk artist. Lewis’s paintings, which she sold new for a few dollars, have been selling for as much as $22,000 in recent years.
