Cabbie commended for stopping assault on woman

A Halifax taxi driver is being commended by police for intervening in an assault in the south end.

A woman was assaulted by a man she almost bumped into while distracted by texting while walking near Inglis and Brussels Streets. Police say the cabbie played an important role in the investigation, breaking up the assault then following the suspect to a gas station.

A 40 year old man has been charged with assault.
