Free bridge turned down

The government has rejected an offer of a free bridge for that washout on Route 114.

Dan Tingley is an engineer who specializes in timber bridges. He admits he’s trying to promote the use of home-grown technology, materials and manpower with his offer of a free temporary bridge over that washout.

The government ackowledges Tingley is noted for his work…but it said no thanks.

His temporary bridge isn’t big enough. They have ordered and paid for a bridge which has been built specifically for this application and it’s on it way, although they still don’t have a timeline for its installation.

A Public meeting will be held March 29th at the Kiwanis Community Centre in Hillsborough to update residents and business owners on the situation.
