There’ll be a new app for bus riders, according to the Times and Transcript. They will be able to use their smartphones to pay for passes.
Moncton city council agreed to a one-year pilot project with Hot Spot Inc. of Fredericton which will allow bus users to subscribe to a phone app where passes can be purchased…with credit cards at first but then debit later.
Patrons buy bus passes on their phone and then use it when they need it. When you board the bus, you press ‘board bus’ on the app and then you show it to the bus driver as proof of payment. But it’s not free. It does require a $2 a month subscription from users.
