A boil water advisory has been issued for residents on the New Waterford water system. The CBRM’s Water Utility say the advisory is a precautionary response after the test of a single water sample turned up quality concerns. Customers are being advised to boil any water that could be consumed for at least one minute. That includes water for brushing teeth, washing food, or drinking. The advisory covers the communities of New Waterford, River Ryan, Lingan, Scotchtown and New Victoria. The advisory will remain in effect until the utility is able to produce two clean tests from the same location over a two day period.
