Millions to turn old Coast Guard base into research centre

A facility which officials say will transform a section of the Dartmouth waterfront is getting a multimillion-dollar investment.

The 3.2-hectare project, dubbed COVE of the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship, will be built at the former Coast Guard base. Irving Shipbuilding is contributing $4.5 million. Ottawa has committed about $7 million and the province is adding over $12 million dollars to the project. It’s designed to improve the region’s prospects in the ocean technology industries.
