A Valley couple have been banned from owning animals for life.
The SPCA says Donald and Megan Amero pleaded guilty in court this week to causing an animal to be in distress.
The SPCA found 17 cats living in unsanitary conditions at a home in Annapolis County, including a mother and five kittens. They were soaked in urine and caked in feces. All of the cats have since been rehabilitated and adopted.
