Today SiRT laid a charge of breach of probation against a 45-year-old member of the Halifax Regional Police, Jason Richard Murray.
On November 29, Cst. Murray pled guilty in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia to one count of assault. He was granted a conditional discharge, and was placed on an eight-month probation order. A condition of that order was that he have no direct or indirect contact with the victim in that matter. A witness has now provided information to SiRT that alleges that condition of the order was breached on February 9th.
Cst. Murray is due to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on April 18th.
