Call for stiffer fines for disabled parking spots

Ability New Brunswick wants cities and towns to increase the fines for people parking in disabled spots.

It would like to see the fine go to $172.50, according to CBC. Right now the fine in Moncton is $45…in Dieppe $30.

Executive Director Haley Flaro says the misuse of accessible parking spaces is becoming more of a problem…people are missing appointments because they can’t find a spot due to people without the proper permits parking in the accessible spaces…and there are also safety issues.
