Millions in cancer research money at UNBSJ

A team of researchers in Saint John is getting millions in research money to find better treatments for people with an incurable form of cancer known as multiple myeloma. It’s found mainly in bone marrow.

The team is led by noted oncologist Dr. Tony Reiman at UNBSJ, who is getting $5 million from the Terry Fox Research Institute. Dr. Reiman says 250 patients will participate in the five-year study, and will provide blood and bone marrow for the research.
