The province will introduce legislation this week to enhance animal protection. Amendments would increase penalties for fighting contests, improper tethering and failing to humanely euthanize, among other things. There would also be a new offence for abandonment, and liability protection for those involved in animal protection. The New Brunswick SPCA is also getting $100,000 for annual funding.
