Moncton cab driver numbers double over past year

It may be easier to hail a taxi these days but Moncton cab drivers say it’s getting harder to make a living.

CBC reports that the number of taxi drivers in the city more than doubled last year, from 159 in 2015 to 371 drivers in 2016. The number of licensed cabs also jumped to 207 vehicles in 2016, up from 127 the year before. Many drivers say they are being forced to work as much as twenty hours a day and for weeks at a time without a day off to make enough fares to pay the bills.
