Saint John firefighters were very busy on the weekend handling four fires in less than 24 hours.
The first blaze was in a two storey home on Hillcrest Road Saturday afternoon which displaced two adults and a 3 year old child. They weren’t hurt.
The second was Saturday night on Charlotte Street. Two people were forced out, including a woman treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation.
The most serious was just before 1:00 yesterday morning on River Avenue where two adults and two children were asleep when the flames broke out. Police were first to arrive and banged on the doors until the family got up and out safely. Two family pets died. A fire fighter was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
Then around 7:00am fire crews were called to a home on Exmouth Street because of a kitchen fire in an upstairs apartment of a two storey house. A man was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation from that one.
None of the fires are considered suspicious.
