An effort has been launched in Saint John to get more women into politics.
The Telegraph-Journal reports dozens of women gathered at the Union Club, which used to be a men’s only institution, to launch Women for 50%. Their goal is to have half the candidates for each party in the next provincial election female.
Meanwhile, Premier Brian Gallant yesterday said he party won’t commit to women making up half the Liberal slate. He said the party will do what it can to get more women involved…but believes riding associations need to select their own candidates.
