Government won’t pay for anti-overdose drug

Health Minister Victor Boudreau says the provincial government will not be paying for the anti-overdose drug Naloxone, according to CBC.

Boudreau says overdose deaths because of fentanyl are not on the rise in New Brunswick and have been only a few cases a year…so the government won’t be covering the drug, despite calls from doctors to do so.

Boudreau pointed out only two provinces cover Naloxone now.  He did say it is available to first responders if needed.
