Military to Cover Funeral Expenses for Victims of Nova Scotia Murder-Suicide

The Canadian Military is stepping up to pay the funeral expenses for three family members murdered by a combat veteran in Nova Scotia. Police say Lionel Desmond shot and killed his 10-year-old daughter Aaliyah, his wife Shanna, and his mother Brenda before turning the gun on himself in Upper Big Tracadie last Tuesday. A Go Fund Me campaign had been started to raise money to cover the funeral expense but family of the victims say that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau got involved and the military has now decided to cover funeral expenses for the three victims. Lionel Desmond suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder since returning from Afghanistan and family say he was turned away after seeking treatment just prior to the killings. A candlelight vigil was held in the community last night.
