Province reminding how public holidays work

The province is reminding you how public holidays work as Christmas approaches.  Christmas and New Year’s days are paid public holidays under the Employment Standards Act.  Boxing Day is a prescribed day of rest under the Days of Rest Act, but is not a paid public holiday.  In order to qualify, an employee must have been there for at least 90 days.  They’re entitled to a regular day’s pay, and if they work on the holiday they get time and a half.
