Waycobah First Nation Receives Funding for Tourism Projects

Cape Breton’s Waycobah First Nation is receiving 186-thousand-dollars in ACOA funding to increase tourism in the Mi’kmaq community. The funding, announced Friday by the MP for Cape-Breton Canso Rodger Cuzner, will go towards developing a venue to host an information kiosk, artisan shop and tour booking centre. The money will also go towards developing tourism experiences such as trail enhancements and paddling and sport fishing tours. Indigenous and Northern Affairs is also providing over 170-thousand-dollars towards the project. The province and the Waycobah First Nation are each contributing nearly 70-thousand-dollars each.
