Developer Marty Cernin says his apartment complex on the Esplanade is still a go, although he’s had to make some changes because of higher than expected construction costs.
Chernin told the Cape Breton Post he also lost a potential tenant for commercial space on the ground floor who decided to go with a standalone facility. He says the architects are redesigning the seven storey, 45 unit building, including maybe changing the facade, to save some money.
CBRM Council has already agreed to the complex and to building a short street to access Harbour Royale and the waterfront lands. Chernin will pay 25% of that cost.
