Marine protection plan

The Trudeau Liberals will be spending 1.5 billion dollars of taxpayer’s money for a marine protection plan over the next five years.

Environment Minister Catherine McKenna was at the Coast Guard offices in Dartmouth to make the announcement.

She said the Coast Guard and Bedford Institute of Oceanography will be getting more funding, and there’ll be a new radar station at Chedabucto.

McKenna also said the government will be drawing on the traditional knowledge and expertise of Indigenous communities to protect coasts and waterways more effectively.
