Researchers at the IWK are using a humanoid robot to help some kids in the blood collection clinic.
They are studying how the robot can help reduce pain and distress. The robot has been used at only a couple of other children’s hospitals in North America, so far. It can be programmed to interact with children in a clinical setting with calming breathing exercises and games.
