A spokesman for the new foreign affairs minister says Ottawa isn’t interested in bargaining with Russia on Chrystia Freeland’s behalf.

Freeland was put on the Kremlin’s sanctions list in 2014 in retaliation for the sanctions Canada placed on Russia over the invasion of Crimea.

Freeland’s people are rejecting suggestions from Moscow it could lift its sanctions against Freeland in exchange for Canada lifting sanctions against Russia.

In Q-League action, the Mooseheads beat the Islanders 4-1 at the Scotiabank Centre, as the Titans shut down the Wldcats 7-0 at the Coliseum.  The Screaming Eagles beat the Volitigeurs 7-3 at Centre 200.

In the NHL, the Habs beat the Jets 7 to 4.  Calgary got past San Jose 3 to 2.

On the hardwood at Harbour Station, the Riptide beat the Orangeville A’s 125-112.
