Trudeau’s Fredericton visit

The troubled Phoenix pay system, electoral reform and the Energy East pipeline were among the issues raised as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a town hall meeting in Fredericton yesterday.

A woman asked the prime minister if he would scrap the pay system that has left thousands of government employees with either too much pay or no pay at all.

He replied that workers in Miramichi are working around the clock to fix the Phoenix system, and promised that the government is working as fast as it can to end up with a good system.

Suspension of duty case

The cone of silence surrounding the abrupt removal of the vice-chief of the defence staff is still on.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wouldn’t reveal anything about the decision to relieve Vice-Admiral Mark Norman of his duties.

Citing an anonymous source, the Globe and Mail says that followed an investigation into an alleged leak of high-level secret documents.
