Teachers can now apply online to be part of the new Council to Improve Classroom Conditions. They’ll get input on how $20 million will be invested during the next two years, with priorities including the student attendance policy, complex classrooms and class sizes. NS imposes a contract on teachers
The teachers contract is now law. It passed third and final reading at the legislature with the Liberal majority pushing it through and the opposition MLAs voting against.
The bill puts an end to the work to rule campaign by teachers, but union president Liette Doucet says it’ll be up to individual teachers to decide what extra work they will do other than what is outlined in the contract.
Outside Province House, Premier McNeil and Education Minister Karen Casey’s limo was surronded by protestors as they tried to leave and it was several minutes before police could clear a path.
