NS tourism sees record 2016

Nova Scotia tourism had a record-setting year in 2016.  2.2 million visitors came, an 8% jump from 2015.  Tourism Nova Scotia says the main reasons were more travellers from the US and Canada.  Revenue hit $2.6 billion, a 5% increase from 2015.

Cranton Bridge repairs

Repairs are coming for the Cranton Bridge in Margaree Centre according to Inverness MLA Allan MacMaster.  He received a letter from the Transportation Minister saying detailed design work will begin soon to repair the bridge and increase it’s weight capacity, but it will remain one lane of traffic for now, controlled by lights.

Area Councillor Laurie Cranton said the Cranton Bridge has been in a state of disrepair for several years and work should begin sooner than later.
