CBRM advisory

A boil water advisory has been issued for residents on the New Waterford water system.  CBRM’s Water Utility say the advisory is a precautionary response after the test of a single water sample turned up quality concerns on the weekend.

Customers are being advised to boil any water that could be consumed for at least one minute.  That includes water for brushing teeth, washing food; or drinking.  The advisory covers the communities of New Waterford, River Ryan; Lingan, Scotchtown; and New Victoria.

Pierplex concerns

They celebrated half a century of skating fun at Whitney Pier’s community rink.  Lots of families hit the ice on the weekend at Pierplex, but many are wondering how much longer they’ll be able to skate there.

The rink lost its major tenant, the Sydney Minor Hockey Association; which moved teams to the new rink in Membertou, but supporters of the Pierplex plan to fight to keep their rink open with different fundraisers.
