Glace Bay fatal fire

They’re still investigating the cause of a deadly fire early yesterday in Glace Bay that killed a 54 year old man, but it has been deemed accidental.

Police say Gerald Alexandra Somerton died in hospital after being taken out of the duplex on Concord Street.  Occupants of the other unit are okay.

Police are staying at the scene where human remains were discovered until it’s found out whether foul play was involved.

According to people in the Vulcan Avenue area, some local kids found the remains Saturday morning by a well-used trail in a wooded area near at the old coke ovens site at the end of Ash Street.

The remains have yet to be identified and an autopsy is being performed in Halifax.
