Margaree Airport crash report

The final report of the Transportation Safety Board has been released into the crash of a small plane at the Margaree Airport in the summer of 2015.

It says safety deficiencies caused the partial collapse of landing gear that sent a small plane off the runway.  None of the four people aboard were hurt but the plane was heavily damaged.  The report also says some of the checklists were missed during the approach.

Cabot Trail upgrades

Ottawa and the province are sharing the costs of upgrading 22 kilometres of the Cabot Trail.

MPs Mark Eyking and Roger Cuzner, provincial Transportation Minister Geoff MacLellan; and MLA Pam Eyking announced a total of $36 million to improve four distinct sections of the eastern part of the road to better accomodate cyclists and pedestrians with paved shoulders.  The work areas include from the base of Smokey toward Ingonish, a section in Middle River near Hunters Mountain, Ingonish Centre to Ingonish North and a section in Tarbot.

Ottawa is putting up $11.2 million and the province $24.8 million.
