Mira search efforts

Private boat owners with sonar joined the search yesterday for the fisherman missing in the Mira at Albert Bridge.  He has now been identified at 56 year old Murray Francis Reid who fell overboard while fishing from his small boat.

Police say Reid is well known and well-respected in the community.  Sgt. Phillip Ross told the CBC the community is pulling togeather to support the family.  He said the visibility improved in the water yesterday but they may have to suspend the search again later today when the stormy weather moves in.

Highway 125 road work

Work is expected to begin within a couple of weeks on repairs to Highway 125 to fix the ruts.

Repairs were done on a five-kilometre stretch last year, where deep ruts were blamed for several serious accidents.  Ruts on other sections of the highway are deepening.   They’ll be planing and repaving sections near North Sydney over the next two months.
