Nova Scotia teachers update

A couple of moves in the teachers’ contract dispute yesterday.

NSTU President Liette Doucet said the union was applying to the Labour Minister for a mediator to try to avoid a strike December 3rd.

That came just after Premier Stephen McNeil announced his government was launching an advertising campaign extolling its position in the dispute.

McNeil says there’ll be government funded and Liberal party funded ads.

No bids for latest CNSOPB parcel call

The Canada – Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board says no bids were received for the latest call. Six parcels are no longer up for bid and remain Crown land. 1, 2, and 3 were in shallow water on the Scotian Shelf, south of Sable Island; 4, 5 and 6 were south of those, on the outer shelf and slope of the central Scotian margin.
