HTU launching unfair labour practice complaint against Chronicle Herald

The Halifax Typographical Union is launching an unfair labour practice complaint against the Chronicle Herald.  Talks broke down after the newspaper and union representing striking newsroom workers couldn’t reach a deal, despite major concessions including a non-union production hub offered by the union on Friday.  The HTU feels the Herald is simply trying to bust the union.

Suspicious ire in Scotchtown

Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a house on Queen Street in Scotchtown. The house was vacant at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Police were originally called to the fire around 10:20 PM on November 6, where the Scotchtown Volunteer Fire Department was already on the scene. Anyone with information on this fire is asked to contact police, or anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
