Cape Breton demonstrations

There were two demonstrations in support of teachers outside two schools in Cape Breton yesterday.

Parents and their children waved signs in front of Dr. T.L. Sullivan Junior High in Florence.  They were also complaining that class sizes there are too large and kids are falling through the cracks in the system.

A group of Memorial High School students in Sydney Mines also demonstrated outside showing support for their teachers.

Memorial High School incident

Memorial High School was locked down yesterday because of a report of two males going into woods near the school with rifles.

Police say there was no direct threat to the school or its students and the lockdown was lifted.
